[Understanding fluid, heat, and mass transfer to control the transport of momentum, energy, and mass]
We are engaged in research that integrates thermodynamics and transport phenomena with the aim of creating new energy technologies and scientific fields. The modern energy industry consists of sophisticated operations that are far from equilibrium and complicated by multiple irreversible processes, and the conventional paradigm cannot control all the technologies and predict the phenomena. Although no principle that is generally applicable to non-equilibrium open systems has been established at present, the “maximum entropy production principle” is a prominent candidate, and we will continue our experimental and theoretical research with the aim of establishing a new paradigm.
